I'm afraid however, that things may be a tad more sinister than just a Marxist ploy. Most people are either too stressed, prescription med'ed out, alcoholic, or just too overwhelmed to see all the pieces converging. Illegal immigrants, Islamic fanaticals, TB, economic stresses, Bird flu, Ecoli, Radical homosexuality, Disenfranchised Congress, corruption in the White House, and just when you think your Prosac is effective, along comes China and it's whole host of subverting schemes. We're being set up people and you really need to get your thumbs out of your arses and start paying attention.
Survey: Experts tell how to get the word out and bring business in
"Public relations" can encompass investor, employee and community relations. Many use it to mean media relations, or generating news stories. Having a third party talk about a company, service or product gains credibility. But there's no guarantee the message will get picked up and no control over what the media says. PR works best when the message is truly newsworthy. Advertisements, on the other hand, transmit the message exactly how the advertiser wants it -- the advertiser has complete control. By paying for a spot, the advertiser ensures it is featured where it wants to be seen. A bigger news story won't bump it off the page or off the air. Often, both can be used. Media relations and advertising support each other and achieve greater results when used in concert than they ever would on their own.

She's being considered replacement to Katie Couric on The Today Show. I'd hate Jeras' near gaff squelch the deal. But, really - why are any of us in those situations? Just because a place, anyplace, is trying hard to live-down a long-held reputation, doesn't mean we can't have a little fun at their expense, does it? Yes, unfortunately, it does. Someone could take you to court and they would win. I miss the days of laughter, laughter at our own expense; especially, laughter at our own expense. Here on St. Simons Island you might see a sign or a bumper sticker proclaiming to one and all, ST. SIMONS, A DRINKING ISLAND WITH A GOLFING PROBLEM. We laugh. Tourists are amused because that's exactly why they vacation here; to drink a little and golf a lot. As a New Yorker, and I'll qualify all I say by acknowledging that, there is nothing you could say that would rile me up.

Oceans’ Growing Acidity Alarms Scientists
Forget about sea levels rising as glaciers and polar ice melt, and increasing water temperatures affecting global weather patterns. As the oceans absorb more and more carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, they're gradually becoming more acidic. And some scientists fear that the change may be irreversible. At risk are sea creatures up and down the food chain, from the tiniest phytoplankton and zooplankton to whales, from squid to salmon to crabs, coral, oysters and clams. The oceans are already 30 percent more acidic than they were at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, as they absorb 22 tons of carbon dioxide a day. By the end of the century, they could be 150 percent more acidic. "Everything points to dramatic effects," said Richard Feely, an oceanographer with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Seattle.

Sexy booze ads 'still flouting TV standards'
DRUG abuse experts are calling for a clampdown on alcohol advertising, claiming the industry has failed to improve its standards despite a study saying rules forbidding overt sexual innuendos were being flouted. The study, published in the journal Drug and Alcohol Review, reviewed alcohol advertising in television and print over one year and submitted formal complaints over the worst 14 infringements of standards. But despite an independent expert panel recruited for the research agreeing that eight of the 14 advertisements broke the existing rules, only one complaint was upheld - and then only by one of the two regulatory bodies that handle alcohol advertising complaints. In one of the 14 advertisements - a TV commercial for Boag's beer - a woman leans against a Mercedes, while the male driver activates the aerial, lifting and undoing her dress.
