The Lifecycle of Regulatory Change
The cycle commonly begins with the regulator issuing a thought-piece to the industry in the form of a speech, or discussion, or perhaps a paper setting out a proposal or framework of ideas over how to fix a perceived problem. In the first instance, trade associations and senior management teams generally pick up on such proposals and feed back their responses to the regulator. Digital hearing aid devices giving patients more control
He said there are some hearing aid companies that still make analog devices, but most of them have switched to digital. While some people can get by with one hearing aid, he recommends two so hearing is better balanced. "Hearing is in your brain," he said, "and the brain can better balance information it is receiving from two sources instead of one." Terri Samuelson, an audiologist with the Defiance Hearing Aid Center, tests patients to determine how much hearing has been lost. "Patients must understand that a hearing aid is like a corrective lens in eyeglasses," she said. "A hearing aid will correct hearing up to a certain point, depending on how much damage has been done to the ear or in the brain. Some people may be able to hear again at 100 percent and some at 20 percent of what they originally had." She noted it is rare that patients would regain 100 percent of their hearing, but scientific research is ongoing to try and regenerate hair cells.

British Council defies Russia over closures
For its part, Russia said that Sir Anthony had been informed that the British Council's decision to stay open was an "intentional provocation aimed at inflaming tensions in Russian-British relations". Russia added that no new visas would be issued for any British Council staff wishing to enter the country. When staff at the British Council's office in St Petersburg resumed work yesterday, the first day of business after Russia's prolonged New Year break, they had to live with the possibility that police might be summoned to enforce the closure. "Only the Russian authorities can say what the next step will be," said Stephen Kinnock, the son of Lord Kinnock, the former Labour leader, and the British Council's regional director in north-west Russia. "We are just waiting to see what happens.
Football recruiting
Florida State and UCLA now appear to be Sanders' new front-runners. "He may take an official visit to FSU; he may take an official to UCLA," Vincent Sanders said. "He's going to go where they want him." Vincent Sanders was still stinging Saturday night from the disappointing news. "As his dad, I was hurt," he said. "When a head coach tells you 'you're a part of our school' and then everybody backs away from you, how am I supposed to feel? "I'm not interested in bashing anybody. I'm just telling you what happened. "Zebrie is just fortunate enough that some other doors are still open." .
