Certainly celebrate, and don't hang your head, but certainly a little respect for your opponent regardless of the score would be nice, but when you are down by over two touchdowns, you just look foolish. As for the Chris Jessie episode, I am a little torn. There is no doubt that it was a bonehead maneuver, but certainly understandable given the play. He wasn't paying attention and thought the ball was dead. Given the score, no doubt ESPN was trying to find a little excitement. There is a difference however, from covering it, and holding the camera on the guy for the next two quarters to see if he breaks down. As a staff member, he is not a player and has no chance to redeem himself on the field. Trying to further humiliate him was going a bit far. The fact that ESPN had people combing the sidelines to the point where Texas players refused to give his name so they could not further embarass him was a bit much.

Camden police get a boost from K-9 units

So, two years ago, Camden police applied for the grant money, which also pays for necessities such as cars, radios and computers.

Both James, 37, a 15-year veteran of the department, and Godlewski, 35, a five-year veteran, volunteered for - indeed, applied for - the K-9 patrol. So far, both love it, even after the 16-week training program that Godlewski describes as much more grueling than basic police academy training.

It is more than a mere partnership that develops over the course of the training. Officer and dog become family, even living together. Camden police installed kennels at the homes of both James and Godlewski, and the dogs have moved in with the officers' wives and children, and even their family dogs (both officers have boxers).

Off duty, the police dogs, all business on the job, behave more like pets.

PennDOT's plans may mean luncheonette's end

Third are on a PennDOT hit list to be demolished next year as part of a plan to widen and improve Route 412. The plan is to build extra turn lanes to allow easier access to Riverside Drive -- the street that separates Ginny's from Perkins restaurant -- which will ultimately connect to a new ramp for the Hill-to-Hill Bridge.

The state in October filed legal papers to take both properties by eminent domain. PennDOT holds title to both buildings, but still must complete the transaction and pay ''just compensation'' for both properties.

But what PennDOT has offered as ''just compensation'' does not come close to meeting the true value of the property, said Frank Halkias, who, along with his mother Irene, owns the restaurant and the real estate. The state's offer is the equivalent of what the Halkiases paid for the restaurant in 1987.

Systemax saves CompUSA from knacker's yard

Systemax is buying the CompUSA brand name, its ecommerce operations and up to 16 stores in the great CompUSA close-out sale. The big US computer reseller hails CompUSA as a "strong complementary" business to its own retail TigerDirect brand and is paying up to $30m for its new baby, depending on how many stores it actually buys.

CompUSA went titsup last month, selling itself to Gordon Brothers for an undisclosed sum. Gordon, a Boston-based restructuring specialist, said it would it close CompUSA's 103 retail stores in an orderly wind-down and run the electronics retailer's ecommerce site until a buyer was found.
